Williams sisters fall as upsets stun French Open crowd
At Roland Garros Williams sisters Venus and Serena, both Grand Slam champions, were ousted in the third round by Flavia Pennetta and Katarina Srebotnik. Pennetta defeated Venus 7 5 6 3 while Srebotnik knocked out Serena 6 4 6 4, ending the American run as darkness settles over Paris. The day ends with no American women left in the draw and a first time French Open women’s champion likely.
