A Greyhound bus collided with a parked Inter-State truck on U.S. 30 about 28 miles east of Evanston Wyoming. Four women died and more than 20 others were injured as the bus driver Henry Everts and several passengers were hospitalized.
Senator J William Fulbright questioned the presidents handling of the U2 spy plane incident after three hours of testimony by Allen Dulles head of the CIA He faulted State Department and White House officials for questionable decisions and said Eisenhowers taking responsibility was ill advised Dulles offered to take personal responsibility but spoke little to reporters during the session
Carl A. Myers 78 of 435 Mich. St. dies at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Funeral 11 a.m. Wed at Rumsey Funeral Home burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters two sons a sister and five grandchildren. Mrs R M Clark 84 of Minneapolis Kan dies in Salina Hospital. Funeral Wed in Minneapolis with burial there. Survivors include four sons a daughter nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Frances Samford Nelson 51 of 615 Tenn. St. dies in Palo Alto Calif. Funeral plans not fixed. contributions to American Cancer Society preferred. Survivors include husband Prof Edward G Nelson a daughter and a son and a sister. Prof Nelson to return to Lawrence in late June.

The team visited Meriden to measure damage and draft plans while meeting officials with Dwight Nesmith. Members included Donald Ströhmer George Miller Jack Galbraith Vernon Devies and John Welker.
Eugene Artry, 22, was sentenced in Wyandotte County to life plus 26 years for kidnapping rape and assault of an 18 year old Kansas City Kansas girl. Judge William H. McHale imposed three sentences after a May 20 conviction. the jury set life for kidnapping and left rape and assault at maximums.
Chancellor Murphy announced 70 KU faculty promotions effective July 1, including 38 at Lawrence and 32 at KU Medical Center, with 16 promoted to full professors and four to full professor at the Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones were set in St. Joseph where her parents Mr and Mrs Elmer Clements live.
