Nangy Four is expected to return home using a route once attempted by a hawker. He arrived in England at 2:26 this afternoon after traveling most of the way through rain.

High scorers at the state shoot will represent Kansas at the national event in Caldwell, New Jersey starting August 5. The encampment may be at Camp Funston, with government approval pending. The rifle meet may be at Tunston range or Fort Leavenworth in late July.
Jess Willard leaves Lawrence for Toledo to start conditioning at the Casino on Maumee Bay shore. Carpenters build outdoor ring as Ray C. Archer plans workouts by Monday. Willard’s sparring partners to report by then. Dempsey’s manager Jack Kearns hopes to visit soon before the July Fourth bout.
Lieut. Maurice Benedict, famed for delaying his return to Lawrence, finds Detroit residents paying him for rides and advertising their business. He will postpone his visit home to a later date as favorable publicity continues.
A Ford traveling from the north near Maple Grove cemetery veered at a wide turn to avoid an oncoming car and slid into a twelve-foot ditch. The unknown female driver and a male passenger escaped injury and the car emerged undamaged aside from the mud in the ditch. A team of mules aided by the ditch, per the report.
New York May 31. Greeting message from western mayors to Major General Frank L. Winn of the 89th on the Rotterdam expresses pride and welcome. Winn thanks the cities and recalls Pershing praise of the division. He will go to Camp Custer to assume command with Col. John C. H. Lee and Lt. Col. Frank Wilburt Smith aboard.
Douglas county commissioners and the county attorney met in a secret session to decide bids for the Fort to Fort highway. Only the one mile in Section C was set, with the remaining seventeen miles awaiting bid results above the state engineer's estimate. The public was barred from the room as officials compared figures late this afternoon.

Free swimming tickets for students who did not receive them at school last week are now available from the city office. The Y M C A notes the tickets must be signed by parents and admit free to swimming losses. Tickets valid Monday Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons starting at 2.
Supt R A Kent notes the new child labor regulations issued by state labor commissioner John Crawford. The law requires youths aged 14 to 16 to obtain a permit from the school superintendent to work in mills canneries and similar establishments during summer, raising the age range from 14 to 15. It aims to keep younger citizens out of dangerous labor and keep them in school, with no under twelve allowed to work.
An all-day celebration in Globe honors returned soldiers with a fourteen-piece band traveling from Lawrence to perform at the gathering. The event features overseas veterans and a notable segment recognizing those who did not return, marking a solemn highlight of the program.

David I De Witt of Topeka and Hazel E Baldwin of Topeka obtained licenses yesterday.
The K. D. K.s, a group of high school boys, held an informal dance last night at the Underwood home at 643 Tennessee street. The house was decorated in purple and gold, and the music added to the festive mood.
Winnipeg May 31 Arbitration conference underway over the general strike and metal trade walkout as hundreds return to work. Edmonton dispatches report public service functions largely resumed there while workers in 32 trades remain out. Votes on a general strike are being taken at Vancouver and Victoria and will be announced within days.
On Memorial Day at Haskell Institute eight hundred students formed a procession led by band through the campus to Haskell Cemetery. Graved for students who died in years past were honored with one hundred Indian maidens in white bearing bouquets. A girl placed flowers on each grave as the band played Nearer My God to Thee. Superintendent Peairs introduced W S Simons for a ten minute address followed by a three volley salute and taps.
Three more divorces were finalized Thursday afternoon in district court before Judge Co. Adjournment followed with minor children from William W. Sneegas involved. Brandt and Suttle were also mentioned in proceedings.
