The murder trial of William Haywood continues with 61 new talesmen called and a full jury expected by tomorrow. The defense used a remaining two peremptory challenges. Mrs Haywood attended with her daughters behind the prisoner as proceedings paused for a court conference.

Four burn deaths in Long Branch blaze at Schiffer home
In Long Branch New Jersey four bodies were found in the ruined house of Walter Schiffer secretary of the United Cigar Manufacturers Company. The victims include Ruth fourteen and Marion ten daughters of Schiffer and two servants Tilly Monahan and Mary Dilter. Mrs Schiffer is in critical condition from severe burns. Schiffer and two guests B Citroen and M Breker were seriously burned. Butler John Irvine suffered injuries and governess Mrs Holt was severely burned while trying to save the children.

Gas kills three in St Louis on Lawton avenue
