United Presbyterian Assembly debates New York church memorial
At Topeka May 29 the United Presbyterian general assembly adopted reports on the 25th Street New York Memorial, releasing the church from its trust condition if all funds since 1881 are repaid. It also approved education board plans including a $35,000 yearly appropriation, and a $3400 grant to Torkio college, while upholding standards on tobacco abstinence for ministry candidates. Other items covered include missions, Brazil slavery abolition plans, and various national appointments.
