Lawrence school board approves $17M capital plan
The Lawrence school board approved a 17 million dollar capital improvement plan for 2024 25 by a 7 0 vote and also unanimously approved a five year purchase agreement for a new elementary math curriculum resource. The plan, funded mainly from the Capital Outlay Fund, outlines building maintenance renovations equipment needs and other items with projects over 20000 formally bid and brought to the board separately.

KU recreates eight grotesques at Dyche Hall wins preservation award
A five year project to recreate and reattach eight grotesque stone animal statues at KU Dyche Hall earned the Me dallion Award from the Kansas Preservation Alliance. Architects and stone carvers worked since 2017 to replace crumbling carved figures that have long adorned Dyche Hall, home to the Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Institute.
