A man phoned in to claim he had slashed tires on six patrol car tires in a suburban Kansas City police parking lot. Officers found six tires slashed on four vehicles when they responded to the scene.
An influx of sidewalk jobs slows due to a forthcoming waterline on Iowa Street forcing a hold and a utility pole blocking a new stretch on 15th Street. City engineers opted to pour around the pole, promising postwork to repair damaged sections, with no extra cost to the city.
Douglas County Rural Water District No 4 defeats the city of Eudora in a 23,500 award for engineering studies at a brief hearing. The judge will rule on costs later. RWD No 4 officials say the district’s actions to protect its financial and territorial interests were vindicated. Eudora annexed 143 acres south of Kansas Highway 10 along Douglas County Road 1061, despite the district holding a federal loan enabling service across the area. The December 2007 suit cites a federal loan issue and loan use for facilities. It remains unclear if Eudora will appeal.
