Lawrence City Supervises Art, Intersections And Health Facility Plans
The Lawrence City Commission approved spending up to 47 500 from the Percent for Art fund to display artwork at the East Lawrence Recreation Center after its remodel, with a 3 2 vote and a June 19 submission deadline favoring local artists. They also advanced a list of seven intersections for state funds through the Federal-Aid Safety Program for improvements between 1997 and 1999. Parking restrictions for large vehicles remain under discussion, with a staffing informed delay. The panel authorized bonds for half of a 14.1 million health agency facility, with Douglas County funding the other half and debt repaid by a 1 percent countywide sales tax.
