Deadly tornado devastates St Louis area with massive damage
Early estimates list hundreds dead and thousands injured as a tornado and accompanying hurricane sweep across South and East St Louis. Fires, collapsed buildings, and wrecked riverfronts strand residents and paralize rail service, with destruction spanning factories, hospitals, bridges, and the river levee.

A powerful tornado ripped through St Louis and East St Louis on May 23 28 leaving the central city leveled and the riverfront wrecked.
