Reflection on Poverty and Personal Economy

A long reflective essay urges living cheaply to mimic poverty, then contrasts two men’s approaches. One spends little on attire and lodgings, becoming seedy and failing to network. The other buys a presentable suit and decent lodging, gaining acceptance and opportunity. The piece questions whether frugality harms or helps, and argues for balancing self-care with prudent spending. It cites Prentice Mulford and a Missouri court anecdote, with broader notes on poverty, economy, and social impression.
