Free State Eyes Back-to-Back State Title Bid
Free State High begins its bid for a second straight Class 6A baseball title, facing Derby in the state tournament at Kansas University's Hogland Ballpark. The Firebirds, 18-4, aim to win two of three games in three days, relying on pitching, defense and timely hitting to slow Derby’s offense. Mikey Corbett notes a calmer, familiar mood but warns perfection is needed to avoid mistakes.
