Ex-officer case moved to mediation in rape accusation
Former Lawrence police officer Jonathan Gardner 41 of Tonganoxie faces rape and felony tampering with law enforcement computers charges. The case, moved to mediation led by Kevin Moriarty, involves a 19 year old woman allegedly assaulted after a downtown Lawrence bar visit on January 1 2017. Gardner waives preliminary hearing and remains on GPS monitoring with a $50 000 bond. next status July 20.

City government structure meeting rescheduled due to outage

Fatal hit and run leaves 10 year old dead in Douglas County
Douglas County sheriff's investigators continue probing a May 14 hit-and-run that killed Brooklyn Brouchard, 10, of Eudora, as authorities say a white transit van struck a motorcycle carrying her and her grandfather Barry Larson, who was injured. Detectives believe they located the vehicle in the Kansas City area and are seeking the driver.
