A five car collision on Sixth Street in Lawrence left one person injured and later, a 77 year old driver Max L Dougherty suffered a medical event at the scene. He was pulled from a Cadillac and given CPR before being taken to a Kansas City area hospital in serious condition. Another driver, Michael S Sledd, 21, was treated and released. Police mapped the scene for hours as traffic was affected on Sixth Street near Kasold Drive.
