Lawrence High falls 2 0 in semifinal on flawed Hammer Park field
After Lawrence High's 2-0 semifinal loss to Blue Valley at Hammer Park, coach Brad Stoll blamed the field's poor conditions for misplays and stated the state tournament should never be played there. Center fielder Jake Green's misdirected throw and two later bad hops underscored the facility's shortcomings, with no scoreboard or amenities on site.

Lions fall in state tourney bid as VanGerpen shines
Aaron Rea's grounder deflects off VanGerpen underscores a tense state tournament game. Stoll praised VanGerpen, who is blind in one eye, as he threw down in key moments. Sanders and Kornbrust created threats, but VanGerpen relented both time. Jake Green fouled off two bunts and struck out to end the seventh, sealing the Tigers' fate in the delayed championship game.
