War Risk Insurance Affects 95 Percent of Army Families
Government figures show that over 1,800,000 soldiers and sailors hold war risk insurance totaling more than 16 billion dollars. About 4,200 clerks manage the program, with 2,300,000 checks totaling around 60 million dollars sent to families since December. Congress considers amendments to broaden eligibility and ensure support reaches dependent spouses and parents, amid reports of wives not receiving whom claimants wish to exempt.
