In New York on May 25 Spitzer testified in the Heike sugar conspiracy case as the trial resumed. James F. Bendernagel, refinery cashier, was cited as saying the government watch on ROWA docks explained weight discrepancies in sugar cargoes. Spitzer, called for cross examination, spoke of a confession in Atlanta and claimed no pardons or promises influenced him.

Fourteen people were injured when two coaches of Denver and Rio Grande train No 115 left the track two miles from Cacharas Junction in Colorado.
