KU faces added costs in 2013 Rock Chalk Park lease change
KU Athletics agreed to reimburse Bliss Sports for ground lease costs totaling an estimated 3 to 4.5 million as part of a February 2013 lease amendment that shifted leverage away from KU. CFO Pat Kaufman said Bliss needed 50 years of rent to be whole and the change protected the landlord while KU sacrificed flexibility. University public finance expert Jacob Fowles questions the return on giving up control.
