Kansas tax cuts signed into law by Gov Brownback
Gov. Sam Brownback signed House Bill 2117 sweeping away three income tax rates and cutting to 3 percent and 4.9 percent, eliminating taxes for 191,000 LLCs, S corporations, and sole proprietorships while boosting standard deductions. A 6.3 to 5.7 percent sales tax cut is set for next year, but projected deficits threaten a multi billion shortfall by 2018. Critics warn of higher property taxes and harm to schools, while supporters tout job growth and greater disposable income.
