Preliminary plans approved for a new religion school at Kansas University replacing Myers Hall. The $500000 structure on Oread Avenue will house library capacity for 15000 volumes, campus ministry centers, a chapel, and a residence for the director. A full-time staff of four teachers begins in fall 1965.

Public inspection runs 9 to 1 and guides will be provided by students at the new boys hall near the 24th and Barker intersection. Commencement follows Friday at 9:30 a.m. with Gov John Anderson as speaker.

Tim Somerville, a 1962 Lawrence High student, holds five college credits in analytics and calculus and pursues courses in history of modern China and Japan American government senior English physics and orchestra. He is a state champion cellist and active in Youth for Christ. His father notes his broad curiosity as plans include a liberal arts base and potential majors in physical science engineering or related fields. A Continental Airlines flight 11 from Chicago to Kansas City and Los Angeles crashed near Centerville Iowa. The fuselage broke up in a clover field and debris spread across the area. One victim Nakano died later in hospital. another passenger died at the scene. An air inspector cited possible extreme turbulence or a tornado as the cause.

County Trucks Wreck North of Worden Injures Driver
John J. Fischer, 24, of 1333 Prairie Ave., suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when two Douglas County dump trucks collided north of Worden on a county road. Driver Marvin E. Flory, 38, of Route 2, Lawrence, was also involved. Flory’s loaded truck swerved into Fischer’s empty one, sending Fischer’s vehicle over an eight foot embankment. Both trucks were deemed total losses as investigators worked near the site, where the county is constructing a base for a blacktop road.
