An outstanding state athlete remains in fair condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a collision on U S Highway 24 that killed Richard Hudspeth Chiles and his wife Margaret Roth Chiles of Springfield Missouri. Arthur Calder Jr a 20 year old from Williamstown and Washburn University standout lay severely injured. The Chiles couple were returning from a West Coast vacation when their eastbound car skidded and collided broadside with Calder's westbound vehicle.
