Rates Hearings Pending in Kansas Utilities Case
More than twenty rate petitions are pending before the Kansas state public utilities commission. Exchanges claim long-standing low profits and losses justify increases. The St Francis consolidation was granted higher residence and business rates, while Horton’s request to lower rates was denied. The commission found Horton profits reasonable and Hiawatha’s rates too low to yield fair profit. Northeast Kansas Telephone and Mutual Telephone are involved in related service assessments. Also in Columbia, SC, the South Carolina Democratic convention instructed eighteen delegates to vote for W. G. McAdoo at the national convention.
