Evenflo announced a recall of 32,000 Two-In-One car seats with model numbers starting 636 and 637 manufactured between January 7 and March 20. The backrest and base may separate from the internal harness. A 34 year old woman was critically injured in a bathroom fire at the Nashville Arena during a World Wrestling Federation show. Fire Marshal John Petty said the blaze followed a toilet flush, origin and ignition source unclear, possibly flammable liquid or explosive. The sprinkler system contained the fire before firefighters arrived and the woman remained in critical but stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Seven Boston area hackers testified before the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee that with time and money they could cripple the Internet in 30 minutes by disrupting networks and potentially snooping on presidential movements. Some experts warned the claims were hyperbole, but officials flagged security gaps in federal systems and critical networks.
Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp announced plans to sell 22 hospitals and related facilities in Tennessee North Carolina Kentucky and Alabama to a nonprofit consortium for 1.2 billion as part of a corporate reorganization. Buyers include Alliant Health Care System Baptist Health Duke University Health System New Hanover Regional Medical Center Novant Health Pitt County Memorial Eliza Coffee Memorial and Johnson City Medical Center. The deal leaves Columbia with 314 hospitals and follows a federal anti fraud probe and ongoing restructuring aimed for completion by end of March.
