Wakarusa Valley students explore nature on Tall Oaks campout
Cathey Van Reekum's second graders spent a busy four hours outdoors at Tall Oaks camp near Linwood. They collected leaves and bugs, studied a pond, built fires, wrote postcards, and left salt blocks for wildlife while KU experts from the Natural History Museum and KU entomologist George Byers led lessons on reptiles and insects.
