Lawrence’s antique fire pumper marks 56 years in town
The American LaFrance pumper No. 68 arrived in Lawrence on May 16, 1955, rolled from a rail car to the waterworks site, and was later retired in 1968, used as a reserve into the 1980s, then donated back in 2009. Now in the Fire Medical investigation center at 1839 Mass., it awaits restoration. Bill Stark notes it was state of the art with a four hour test and a cab that seated four firefighters.
