State trims minimum hunter age to eleven for youth hunts
Kansas legislature acts to recruit youths by lowering hunter education requirement to age 11 with supervision for under 12. Ages 12 to 15 must have education to hunt unaccompanied, but may hunt without education if supervised. Other actions include re issuing limited draw permits to wartime military personnel, removing wild turkeys from big game, and penalties for intentional criminal hunting. The measures also set archery deer units deadlines, a landowner deer management pilot, a new Shawnee County state park, and expanded protections for game warden dogs.
