Miss Helen Porter marries Earl Youngmeyer at the Porter residence in Wichita with Rev. Magee officiating. The ceremony featured palms, roses, and a matching bouquet. After a wedding breakfast the couple planned an eastern trip and residency in Wichita. Also noted are Leavenworth social events, a large engagement, and KU affiliations.
A grand county society note details the Judy Scott wedding Sunday afternoon May 15 at 3 o clock in Williams town home of the bride’s sister Mrs Frank H Briggs. Ruth Pearl Judy became Mrs C Edwards Scott in a blue tricotine traveling suit with bouquet of roses orchids and lilies of the valley. Out-of-town guests are listed from Williamstown South Haven Lawrence Topeka Omaha and other cities.
The Women’s Club will meet at the home of Congregationalists tomorrow evening at 8 o’clock. A one act play and several clever stunts have been arranged. Refreshments will be served at the close of the program.
Harry Cooper died Saturday night in Hays Kansas son of Mrs G P Cooper of Kansas City. He was known in Lawrence attended high school here and served with Lawrence boys at Camp Funston. Funeral arrangements not announced. Mrs C H Constant of 1847 Barker reported her uncle Thomas Starnes died near Leavenworth yesterday an early settler of Leavenworth county with many friends. Ronald Porteous died yesterday evening at his home on Michigan Street. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 PM at Funk's chapel with Rev. Bleck officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill. Mrs. Mary A Wood died Sunday morning at her home northeast of Lawrence. Funeral services will be at Funk's chapel Tuesday at 2 PM. Burial will be at Oak Hill with Rev. Klyne officiating. Lawrence Steam Laundry advertises washable textiles. Mr and Mrs EB T Howard and daughter visited Baldwin yesterday.
