Budget forum highlights transit and street upkeep priorities
Lawrence residents at Fire Station No 5 urged higher priority for public transportation and street maintenance in the 2016 city budget. About 20 participants discussed funding to boost transit frequency and routes, with one suggestion to remove the current $1 fare as a revenue loss. The system raises just over $300,000 in fares, under 10 percent of operating revenue.
