The Lawrence School District 497 board will meet at 7 30 p m today to consider raising auxiliary costs for students. Proposed increases include lunches from 35 to 40 cents for elementary pupils and textbook rental fees rising for kindergarten to grade six.
Wayne C. Carroll of Pryor Oklahoma won 125000 in a Wyandotte County district court jury verdict against the Kansas State Board of Regents and Dr. C Fredrick Kittle of Chicago. The suit alleged negligence at the University of Kansas Medical Center after an arm reimplantation led to amputation following self inflicted injuries in his private room. The verdict was returned Friday.
Organizers urged a five minute silent vigil on college campuses as nationwide protests against Vietnam moves wound down after five days of demonstrations. Kent State and schools nationwide reported acceptance, with marches and smaller turnouts including Northwestern Evanston and Madison Wisconsin. A counterdemonstration at Mountain Home Idaho and a base chapel leafleting incident at Hickam Honolulu also noted.
