Excelsior residents shared a busy week with visits to Toneka and Kansas City. George Bechtel, Harry Flory motored to Kansas City while Mrs. Louise Schwarz, Mrs. Anna Johanning and Cal Schwarz visited Toneka. Local 4-H members met at Philo Beck’s home with 36 attendees as Mrs. Beck served refreshments. Excelsior graduates include Gladys Brandon and Vera Belle Glaser. Several family gatherings occurred at Fairview, High Prairie, and with Local residents, including picnics and dinner hosts such as the Gibson and Puckett families.

On Sunday May 23 a quarterly meeting for the Fairview and Vinland churches will be held at Vinland Methodist Church with a basket dinner at noon. Mr and Mrs Fred Christ of Kansas City visited Noah and Gale Gimbler over the weekend. Mother's Day greetings from Mrs Selby to her daughter in Denver. Mrs Randel received a phone call from a son in Los Angeles. Fenton spoke to a son in Tulsa. Charlie Olson and Webb Fenton installed a sink and built cupboards at the Stevens home.

Six pupils from Cedar Junction school sat the county examination in DeSoto on May 7 and 8 with Mrs. Hazel Wright and Mrs. Myrtle Watson serving as in charge. Ina Martin of Kansas City visits daughter Mrs. D R Wright. Wilda Musser and Raymond Stark wed May 10 at Shawnee. they will reside in Kansas City. Tuesday, Mrs. Van Markle visits Kansas City relatives. Sadie Hoke and daughter, Brooks, with the Blasches of Kansas City, visited the Fenn Turner home Sunday.
