All Indian Troop at Haskell Institute a crack unit
Two years after its founding Captain Paul A Cannady organized an all Indian cavalry troop at Haskell Institute. Mustered May 1 1921 the unit won banner troop honors at Fort Riley and state level through multiple encampments. The roster lists members from twenty nine tribes and twenty states with Drill parades before governors and at the American Building in Kansas City. The unit, a show organization at encampments, emphasizes pride and unity among Indian peoples with Chief Sitting Bull and other leaders noted in spirit.
