Funeral services for Ada Fern Myers Overbaugh age 98 in Lawrence will be at 2:00 PM May 15 2014 at Warren McElwain Mortuary with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery She died May 11 2014 at Medicalodges Eudora born October 22 1915 in Newton County Missouri daughter of George and Susan Williams. She lived in Lawrence since 1964 and worked for the University of Kansas Endowment Association and Gibson's Department Store. She married Minter Myers in 1935 and Earl Overbaugh in 1982. Survivors include son William Myers two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Senior Center or Grace Hospice.

Law enforcement responded to a Sunday shooting at an East 13th Street Maple Lane complex during a Mother's Day cookout. Brockman arrived with a shotgun pursuing a person armed with a handgun, shots were fired, Brockman died, shooter unnamed and cooperating. Investigators seek witnesses. no arrest yet. Brockman had prior arrest for a 2013 robbery and was on probation.
