State weighing revised permit for Sunflower coal plant
Kansas environmental officials review an amended 2010 permit for Sunflower Electric’s 895 megawatt coal plant near Holcomb Finney County after the Kansas Supreme Court required tougher limits. Sierra Club Earthjustice say the process rushed concerns. Sunflower says the addendum meets stricter standards and is not a new permit. The project would supply about 537000 homes, with 78 percent reserved for Tri State and its 44 coops across Colorado Nebraska New Mexico and Wyoming.
