Forgiven Man sculpture returns to Topeka church

The 10 foot bronze Forgiven Man was re installed at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Topeka eight months after thieves stole it for scrap. It was found eight days later and repaired before being welded and bolted to its pedestal again. The artist Jim Bass said it is now secure and the church paid a $2,000 reward for its recovery. The recovery story adds a note of forgiveness to the sculpture’s message.
