Prohibition Rate Debate Cited by Federal Official
Louisville May 11 R A Haynes federal prohibition commissioner told Churchmen's Federation that whiskey withdrawals from bonded stores this year will total about 2 400 000 gallons, with a large surplus over medicinal needs. He compared this to 130 000 000 gallons consumed annually before prohibition and 12 500 000 gallons withdrawn in 1920 1921, arguing enforcement costs and public support for law. He urged Americans to uphold law and Americanism against anti prohibition propaganda.
