Mandamus Action Filed by Farmers in Lyndon Bank Bid

In Topeka on May 11 a mandamus suit seeks to force Kansas bank commissioner Roy L. Bone to issue a certificate allowing The Farmers Union Bank of Lyndon in Osage County to open as a partnership bank. The suit follows earlier attempts to open state banks at Lawrence and Lyndon thwarted by charter refusals. The action names J. T. Adams, George W. Andersen, Andrew Bostrom, O. C. Bell, and E. L. Bullard as partners, each contributing 3300, with a capital of 31600 and 1500 surplus. The plaintiffs claim the commissioner found the bank’s organization and capital adequate and that his alleged denial violates property rights.
