Haskell honors record number of graduates at Spring Commencement

Haskell Indian Nations University marked a record class at its Spring Commencement with 80 bachelor’s and 116 associate degrees awarded before a full Coffin Complex. Honorees included Gary Kodaseet, William Gilbert, Jerry Bailey, and Elliot Bryant. An honorary degree went to Jeremy Ortley, posthumously. his wife Tracy Pargeets accepted it as she awaits their child next month. A powwow followed with grand entries at 1 and 7 pm.

Haskell grad overcomes tragedy to graduate magna cum laude

Willow, a Haskell graduate and mother, endured a fatal accident and a later rollover with injuries but walked the stage with her daughter Nakeezaka, graduates magna cum laude, and will lead as head dancer at Haskell's pow wow. She plans a social work master's at Kansas University and community programs on reservations.
