Two Injured In City Two Car Collisions In One Day
Two persons were injured in a city two car crash near 25th and Jast Dr. Bonnie A. Spriggs 31 of 2541 Ark St was treated for injuries from a collision with Allen L. Martin 42 of Route 2 Eudora. A passenger Roland D. Spriggs 10 had minor scalp lacerations and was released. Damages: Spriggs car 890 Martin auto demolished. Another crash on Louisiana Street involved Arthur O Wilkenson 21 and Robert L McMurtry 19 with damages 375. A third crash at 10th and Ohio Streets involved Kathleen L Pierce 20 and Irby M Keen 61 with damages 430 and 475.

Douglas County levee land acquisition and settlement details
The court will distribute the awarded money to landowners after taxes for 1966 and prior years. The morning report covers Douglas County land only. Stough was ordered to appear in Jefferson County District Court for an appraisal of condemned land for levee right of way. A $25 000 settlement was deemed generous. The land is part of Phase I of the levee, with $750 000 authorized in March 1965 by the city and Douglas County Raw Drainage District to acquire the land.

Burglary at Eudora Service Station Reported
The Sheridan County Sheriff reports burglars broke into a Eudora service station after 1 15 a.m. Monday and stole between 100 and 125 dollars in cash. Entry was gained by breaking a south side window. The theft was reported by owner Elbert Frazier.

Alcoholism Official Is Guest Speaker At Meeting
Ward Rogers executive director of the Kansas Division of the National Council on Alcoholism spoke on alcoholism in the Mayflower Room at the Congregational Church Monday night. The Douglas County Association for Mental Health sponsored. He said alcoholism develops in about one in 15 drinkers and a city the size of Lawrence could have about 900 alcoholics not counting KU students. He noted the impact on families and that each alcoholic affects at least five people. He urged that alcoholism is a treatable sickness and public health problem best addressed by group therapy.

Two youths charged in April burglary at Gilded Cage
Ronald Rankin 19 of Oskaloosa and Michael Martin 19 of Eudora were charged in County Court with second degree burglary and larceny for an April 10 break-in at the Gilded Cage on Highway K 10 east of Eudora. A preliminary hearing is set for Friday. Martin has a 1500 bond while Rankin remains jailed. The arrest followed a joint city and county investigation.

4-H Rodeo Slated At County Fairgrounds Sunday
