Fire guts Wells Overlook restrooms near Lawrence arson suspected
A park restroom building at Wells Overlook Park south of Lawrence was destroyed by fire early Friday as authorities probe possible arson. Firefighters reported the 28 foot high tower survived earlier arsons but the restroom slab was left as charcoal. Sheriff Loren Anderson said the blaze appeared well advanced upon arrival. County officials consider repair options while noting prior vandalism at the site.
