Presbyterian Church Votes Down Merger Proposal

The United Presbyterian Church and the Reformed Church merger failed to secure the required votes among UP Presbyterian members. Dr. T. M. Taylor of the Pittsburgh Xenia Theological Seminary, chair of the ULB committee, stated the merger was defeated. Members of the United Presbyterian Church sought support, but three-fifths of the credited voting members did not approve. The event shapes the church’s future relations within the denomination. In unrelated notes, an Armed Emcee report from Washington discusses cold prevention research, noting no evidence that antihistamine preparations prevent or cure colds.
