Defense in porn case raises snooping claim
In Wichita, John Ryan, president and CEO of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, asks a federal court to quash a subpoena for his testimony in the Kansas child pornography case of Walter Ackerman. A hearing is set May 19-20 on a defense motion to suppress emails Ackerman allegedly sent. Prosecutors say AOL filters detect child porn and pass files to the center, which informs law enforcement. Ackerman’s lawyers call the practice cyber snooping and illegal searches.
