Topeka May 7 Eastern Kansas gardens escaped frost damage last night according to Federal Meteorologist S D Flora. A light freeze hit the western part of the state with Ellis reporting a low around 31 but wheat was not expected to suffer. Temperatures ranged 35 to 40 overnight with a warmer outlook for today and tonight indicating frost danger is past. Stream levels in eastern and northern Kansas stayed within banks and no rain was forecast. Yesterday’s highs in the east were 50 to 55 while the west reached into the sixties Phil lipsburg and Dodge City posted 62.
