A 36-year-old Lawrence man filed an aggravated battery report. Officers responded to the 2600 block of Jordan Lane at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday. The Journal World omits many police reports and does not identify victims or arrestees unless charged.

Topeka lawmakers move toward shrinking the 2010 budget shortfall. The Senate backed a 138 million cut and revenue steps while the House committee proposes 247 million in cuts with smaller revenue gains. Both aim to reduce a 328 million deficit, with ongoing talks on tax amnesty and decoupling from federal tax cuts.
Memorial services for Hermann Martin 83 of Lawrence will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Lawrence. He died Sunday May 3 2009 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital born April 15 1926 in Ippinghausen Germany son of Wilhelm and Marie Hilgenberg Martin. He served in the Army in Germany and had lived in Lawrence for years married Alfreda Blok November 30 1957 in Ippinghausen Germany they celebrated 51 years alive. Survived by a son Herbert Duvall Wash three daughters Ruth Dease-Smith Bronx N Y Heidi Lewis Lawrence and Eva Vera Miller Kassel Germany a sister Brunhilde Butterwegge Punta Gorda Fla eight grandchildren. Shamika Latrice Johnson, 23, Topeka, died April 22, 2009 in Kansas City Missouri after a cancer battle. Born February 19, 1985 in Memphis Tennessee, she was cremated with burial in Lawrence. Survivors include her parents Alvin and Joanne Johnson of Lawrence, a brother Robert Johnson and a sister Tamia Johnson. Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City Kansas handled arrangements.
Richard C Wolfe 57 of Lawrence died at home on Monday May 4 2009. Services are pending and will be announced by Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie.
