Market Rallies as Dow Clings to Modest Gain
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 5.41 points to 977.85 at noon, erasing some of six sessions of losses amid a 5-2 advancer to decliner split on the NYSE. Analysts call it a technical bounce after a six day selloff driven by higher rates and Fed tightening signals. Treasury Secretary Regan warned rates could rise further and stay high for a few months.
