Kansas, Florida and Texas challenge Obamacare funding stance
Kansas plans to file an amicus brief and condemn the federal move to withhold hospital funds as a push to expand Obamacare. Florida and Texas back Scott’s litigation, citing a 2012 Supreme Court ruling. Experts warn the case may not apply since hospital funds are optional and subject to program discretion. Florida’s lawsuit led the way, with nine states receiving the funds and others watching as guidelines could affect them. Republicans oppose any federal funds tied to the health care overhaul, while Florida’s House adjourned early amid stalemate.
