Gallaudet University instructor Kathy Jankowski praised the Kansas Relay Center in Lawrence as a nationwide model for aiding speech and hearing impaired people. The 24 seven service, located at 734 Vt in the Southwestern Bell building, handles 15000 to 17000 monthly calls via trained operators linking TDD users and non TDD users.
