Topeka May 5 1939 heavy April snowfall and frequent showers produced more than twice 1937 moisture. Eastern Kansas averaged 2.32 2.56 inches in April with March and April combined the greatest since 1931. Wheat headed early and harvest may start ten to fourteen days early. Pleasanton saw 4.52 inches while Manhattan had 1.11 inches. Snow on the 7th 8th was unusually late for the season and temperatures averaged 55 degrees the mildest April in four years.
