Allen Heads Study Group on Basketball Bounce
The National Basketball Rules committee's research group, led by Dr. F C Allen of Kansas with H V Porter, proposes a new bounce standard for basketballs. Balls must meet specific inflation testing: drop six feet and rebound to four feet at least and not more than four feet seven inches when measured to the top. Manufacturers must stamp the required air pressure, aiming for uniform rebound. New basket rule adds a trap for turning on an electric light after scoring. The committee asks coaches to test baskets at twelve feet.
