Kansas Y M C A secretaries and laymen met in Topeka with over fifty attendees from all regions to discuss a national war program. The plan calls for a Y M C A headquarters at each fort or camp, costing 6000 to 8000 dollars per site and about 1000 dollars per division in salaries. Kansas would raise about 375,000 for the national effort, with Douglas County’s share undetermined. Fort Riley will host a temporary camp for officers in training. Lawrence delegates included Dean P. F. Walker and Hugo Wedell among others.
