Senate advances juvenile marriage ban in Kansas
The Kansas Senate moved to restrict underage marriage amid a past case where a 22 year old Nebraska man tied to a 14 year old girlfriend. The bill would bar marriages for anyone under 15, allow 15 year olds with a judge's best interest finding, and permit 16 or 17 year olds to wed only with parental consent or with a judge's approval if guardians are unavailable.

The Wakarusa Festival will spend over 100000 this year on private security guards and state and local law enforcement. The Douglas County Sheriff s Office will receive about 53316 up from 23660 last year with five to nineteen deputies per shift and about 17 state troopers assigned. Lt. John Eickhorn of the Kansas Highway Patrol says troopers will patrol the campgrounds alongside Douglas County officials to keep attendees safe and urges leaving illegal contraband at home.
