Ross Janssen reports a weak storm system moving through the Lawrence area could bring showers late in the afternoon. Otherwise expect partly cloudy skies and warmer temperatures with highs near 76 and a southeast wind around 15 mph. Tonight trends mostly clear with a low near 54.
A compact weather bulletin lists temperatures for Monday 64 high and 31 low, notes normal highs 73 and lows 51, and records high 1968 and low 1976. It also provides sunrise 6 19 am and sunset 5 17 pm for today, plus moonrise and moonset times.

Douglas County Commissioner Bob Johnson filed for a second four year term saying the next four years will be crucial for decisions affecting growth and business in North Lawrence and surrounding areas. Johnson, 66, represents the first district and serves on multiple boards while promoting an expanded urban growth area south of the Wakarusa River. He aims to attract new businesses and help existing firms prosper, with a primary Aug. 3 and filing by June 10.
Douglas County official says a 1.8 million overhaul of County Road 1029 between Lawrence and Lecompton should finish by end of July, about two months ahead of schedule. Unstable soils add 147000 to costs. county will cover 29514, with Kansas DOT paying the rest.
